Would you take a little more Phaedra?

Hi everyone! Long time no see on the Daughters of the Sun!

So, a quick devlog to let you know that things are going on! But let's start on some reactions that interested me regarding The Daughters of the Sun. Some players completely embraced Phaedra's discourse during this game: as her sister and her mother, she is the victim of Aphrodite's wrath because her forebear, the Sun, offended the cruel goddess.

Honestly, very fair: this is the difference between Racine's play and this game: this has this commentary on how fictions consist in women being sacrificed by and for men (hence the last sentence, completely absent from Racine's play: "We are the daughters of the sun who have been sacrificed", but I'm not here to analyse my own games, haha).

And yet, I haven't seen a lot of people doing something which was obvious to me: question Phaedra. After all... is she saying the truth? Or is she finding excuses? How could we objectively know who is right? I even had someone blaming the men who destroyed Phaedra, but, when we look at the situation objectively: she has confessed her feelings to her teenage step-son. Do you guys know of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend? And do you know of the song "Nothing is ever anybody's fault"?

And don't you think this sounds a bit like... Phaedra? Because, here is Phaedra's tragedy: she feels despite herself incestuous feelings for her step-son, but... does it mean she shouldn't be blamed?

The answer is complicated, and even Racine explains, in the preface to his play, that Phaedra is "neither completely guilty, nor completely innocent."

So, to give you a fuller story, I have two announcements: I decided to indulge myself, make more Phaedra games and have two planned to conclude the "Daughters of the Sun" storyline. So far, one is in active development: Son of the Woods. The protagonist of this game is Hippolytus, Phaedra's step-son, right after she confessed her feelings to him. I'm currently looking for a voice actor for Hippolytus, so you guys can feel free to check this google doc if you're curious!

And a third game is planned, being a prequel to the two others: it will be my own take on the confession scene in Racine's Phaedra, and, you gussed it, it will be the actual confession scene. I started writing it and goodness, certainly one of my most frightening games! So I hope you're looking forward to it (and if anyone has an idea of title dervgbgfdf I hate coming up with them).

A few drawings/concept arts/writing snippet before I leave:

(note: please it's written "Happy ace week", not "Horny ace week", my handwriting is just terrible edfvgfrerfgvgfd

(note: there is a typo, it's "as close as she could" of course edrfdfv)

Aaa, so I got it right by questioning her first! I mean, she was in love with her step-son and tried to justify her feelings, lol. But she started going on about curses and stuff with examples of other cases, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt, oop 🥴🥴

Love how complex it all actually is then! Raised my rating to 9.5/10. Bravo, Chim 👀🤲🏻✨💞
